Dr. Mark Wheaton is a board-certified
medical doctor who specializes in the field of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, also called Physiatry. He has additional training in
the field of Sports Medicine and the management of chronic pain. In his
practice, Lakeside Sports and Pain Clinic, he utilizes prolotherapy,
neural therapy, neurotransmitter therapy, mesotherapy, nutritional
medicine, physical therapy, electrotherapy, massage therapy and other

professional athletes and for those in chronic pain from Fibromyalgia,
back and neck disorders, headaches, spine and joint hypermobility, tears
of tendons, muscles and ligaments, sciatica, arthritis, specific
conditions such as TMJ disorder, shoulder dislocations, tennis elbow,
carpal tunnel syndrome, slipped ribs, hip bursitis, knee instability,

Dr. Wheaton has performed prolotherapy
extensively since 1996, specializing in the Hackett-Hemwall method. In
1999, he presented "Introduction to Prolotherapy" at the
Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction Seminar in Sanibel, Florida. In
2001, he was a contributing author to the book Prolo Your Sports
Injuries Away by Ross
Hauser, MD.
Dr. Wheaton graduated from the University
of Minnesota with a degree in physiology in 1981. He completed his
four-year Medical Degree in 1987 at the George Washington University
Medical School in Washington, D.C.
His internship and residency in Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation were completed at the Loma Linda University
Medical Center in Southern California in 1992. He obtained additional
training by completing a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Southern
California Orthopedic Institute in 1993. Since 1997, he has volunteered
his skills at the charity medical clinic, Beulah Land Natural Medicine
Clinic, held quarterly in Thebes, IL, in addition to various athletic
events in the Minneapolis area. |

Born and raised in the Lake Minnetonka
area in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Dr. Wheaton’s Christian
faith is based on Biblical truth which guides all aspects of his life.
He enjoys tennis, golf, ice hockey, swimming, sailing, biking, cross
country skiing, weight lifting, and frequent activities with family and
friends. He, his wife, Gina, and son, William, reside in the Lake
Minnetonka area.
